Jen will be fifteen this year. Since her father's death, she has lived alone with her young mother Sarah, not far from Covina, a small, North American town. One day Ian, her father's half-brother, moves into their barn and helps them with chores around the farm. Jen is fascinated by this man who seems to belong to no one and nothing. His unexpected presence puts a distance between mother and daughter. Jen escapes with Ian during a wild and violent night that forces him to flee alone into the hostile northen forests.
