Djamila is married to Bruno, her handsome Frenchman. Jean is a cop. Bruno has just started a bus driving job, but his life goes into a spin when he's attacked by a gang of youths from a neighboring estate. One slash of a knife and Bruno's life and future are at stake. Despite Jean's friendship and Djamila's love, Bruno withdraws into himself, hanging out in the bar he'd go to when he was a kid and which has now become a meeting place for a right wing group.
