Biography

Born in Villefranche-sur-Saône, Gaël Morel developed a passion for the movies from a very early age via the medium of television. François Truffaut and André Téchiné were to become his reference points. In 1991, he made his first short film, "L'Accident," and went on to make his second, "A corps perdu," the following year. After a chance meeting with André Téchiné in a Paris movie theater, Morel showed the director his first film, shot on video, in which he also acted. André Téchiné then offered him a part in "The Wild Reeds" (1993). In 1994, Gaël Morel continued his acting career in "Le Plus Bel Age" and directed his third short, "La Vie à rebours." "A toute vitesse" ("Full Speed") is his first feature.
