Biography

Right from the start of his career, Frédéric Schoendoerffer has only ever had one aim: to be a director. To learn the craft, he worked as a trainee in production and directing, making his own short film, “Diabolique,” in 1985. The film was shot on CinemaScope by Raoul Coutard. Since then, Schoendoerffer has worked as assistant director on many feature films, including “Dien Bien Phu” (1991), made by his father Pierre Schoendoerffer. His work as a director includes “Le Défi” (1986), a documentary about Morocco, and “La vie ne fait pas de cadeaux” (1993), a 43-minute short film. His first feature film, “Crime Scenes,” released in 2000, is a thriller starring André Dussollier and Charles Berling.
