Organized by the French Institute in Morocco with support from Unifrance, the 1st French Film Festival in Morocco was held in five cities from March 18 through 20, 2016. An outstanding opening ceremony was held in Casablanca featuring a screening of The Cow.
More than 1,400 people (and a cow !) were present at the Megarama Cinema in Casablanca for the high-profile screening of The Cow, which opened the festival. The film was screened in the presence of its lead actors, Jamel Debbouze and Fatsah Bouyahmed, and director Mohamed Hamidi.
Other special guests in attendance for this 1st edition of the festival included Soria Zeroual, lead actress in Fatima, together with Fatima Elayoubi, who wrote the anthology of poems that inspired the film; Frédéric Schoendoerffer and Tewfik Jallab, director and actor from Fast Convoy; Baya Medhaffar, actress from As I Open My Eyes; and Arthur Delaire, director of Paris-Willouby.
