“Chorists” to represent France in the race for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film

“Chorists” has been selected as a contender for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

The film by Christophe Barratier was chosen at a recent meeting of the selection committee for the 2005 Academy Awards submissions, held yesterday at the French Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC).

Produced by Galatée Films, this directorial debut for Barratier (previously a producer), is enjoying increasing success in the international arena. Sitting at the top of the French box office for over 10 weeks, it has attracted more than 7 million moviegoers in France and its original soundtrack has sold 700,000 copies!

The film also looks set to shine on the international stage, currently sold in at least 40 territories.

The US Academy will unveil the list of five films selected as nominees for this prestigious award at the end of January 2005.
