This year's International Critics' Week and Directors' Fortnight have crowned, respectively, the Chilean film No and the Spanish film Aqui y alla, as well as a string of French titles.
Directors' Fortnight Awards
The Europa Cinemas Label Award was presented to The Repentant by Merzak Allouache (a Franco-Algerian co-production). This award aims to boost the promotion, distribution, and extend screen time in the Europa Cinemas network for winning films.
Camille Rewinds by Noémie Lvovsky received the SACD Award, which honors a French-language film in the selection.
The Fipresci Award in the parallel sections was given to Rachid Djaïdani's feature film Hold Back, a highly-charged and masterful work that is the result of nine years of commitment and research on the subject of inter-community racism.
Critic's Weeks Awards
The SACD Award was given to the debut film by Israeli director Meni Yaesh, God's Neighbors, which plunges into the world of religious extremism in Israel through a story of love and friendship.
Ceci n'est pas un film de cow-boys by Benjamin Parent, a short film selected at Critics' Week, picked up the Queer Palm.
