The films Madagascar, Carnet de Voyage (Madagascar, a Journey Diary), The Illusionist, Outside the Law, Incendies and the composer Alexandre Deplat will represent France at the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony to be held February 27.
Madagascar, Carnet de Voyage (Madagascar, a Journey Diary) by Bastien Dubois has been selected in the Best Animated Short Film category. Last year, Lorgorama by the H5 collective picked up the Oscar in this category. This nomination highlights the current dynamism in the French animated film sector.
Sylvain Chomet's film The Illusionist, a co-production with the UK, has been nominated in the Best Animated Feature Film category.
Outside the Law by Rachid Bouchareb and Incendies by Denis Villeneuve will represent Algeria and Canada respectively in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
The French composer Alexandre Deplat has once again received a nomination, this year for his original score for The King's Speech. This is Deplat's third Academy Award nomination in this category, after The Queen and Fantastic Mr. Fox.
The 83rd Academy Awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on February 27, 2011.
