Gutek Film, a steadfast supporter of French films in Poland, who succeeded in winning back attendance to French fare after it had fallen by the wayside after Perestroika, released François Ozon's latest film, "Swimming Pool," on September 5.
Proud distributor of "Amelie" and "8 Women" (which was released October 18, 2002 on 40 prints and finished its run with 193,000 admissions), Gutek Film has just launched the new opus by François Ozon on 30 prints. After two weeks on the screens, "Swimming Pool" has attracted 44,000 spectators and boasts the third best spectators-per-print average.
François Ozon, who last year embarked on a large scale promotional campaign in Warsaw, is poised to become (as in the case in Russia), one of the most sought-after French directors in Poland, not only by distributors, but also by spectators.
