A study conducted by Unifrance on French films in Quebec between 1997 and 2007 is attached to this article.
As reported in this study, French films enjoyed their most fruitful year of the decade in 2007, with a host of market indicators, such as the number of prints released, the proportion of majority-produced films compared to minority productions, the importance of debut films, and conversion rates, highly promising for their future in Quebec. All the more so since results for 2008 are partially based on those for 2007, such as the successful release of Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis (Welcome to the Sticks), Astérix aux jeux olympiques (Asterix at the Olympic Games), and La Graine et le mulet (The Secret of the Grain).
