On Tuesday, March 13, 1,200 spectators came out to applaud Philippe Leclerc’s animated film Princess of the Sun by the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo.
The screening was organized in this exceptional setting on the eve of the film’s release in Egypt (three weeks prior to its French release) by the film exporters Rezo Films and the Egyptian company Good News Group.
This prestigious world premiere reflects a new direction in the movie-going habits of Egyptian spectators, showing a renewed interest in the distribution of French films, whose position in this territory has stagnated for the past thirty years.
Unifrance has actively supported this new trend in Egypt over the past two years, and is rejoicing over the upcoming release of 35 French films. These titles include: The Do-Gooders, Nos jours heureux, Les Bronzés 3 - Amis pour la vie, The Beat That My Heart Skipped , and Chouchou, to name but a few.
