French films win a slew of prizes at the 62nd Venice Film Festival

Isabelle Huppert, Philippe Garrel, Gela Babluani, Laurent Cantet, Xavier Beauvois, among others, were back on the Lido for the awards ceremony held last Saturday.

* "Les Amants réguliers” by Philippe Garrel: Silver Lion for Best Director
* "13 (Tzameti)" by Gela Babluani: Lion of the Future, Luigi de Laurentiis Award for Best First Feature
* Isabelle Huppert for "Gabrielle" by Patrice Chéreau: Special Lion Award for her acting career as a whole
* Ménothy César for "Vers le Sud" ("Heading South") by Laurent Cantet: Marcello Mastroianni Award for the Most Promising Young Actor or Actress
* "Le Petit Lieutenant" by Xavier Beauvois: Europa Cinemas Label - Venice Days 2005
