For its first release of a French film, and within the scope of its agreement with StudioCanal+, the Italian television channel RAI’s newly established distribution company 01 Distribution has carried off a masterstroke with “Belphegor, Phantom of the Louvre”.
Released in 156 prints and spurred on by Sophie Marceau’s whirlwind and highly publicized visit, Jean-Paul Salomé’s film attracted more than 170,000 spectators in its first week. A very encouraging result for 01 Distribution who can now feel very confident indeed about their upcoming release of “Brotherhood of the Wolf” next month.
