As the 54th Cannes Festival draws to an end, we can look forward to short films in the spotlight, French coproductions and, of course, the closing ceremony.
Short films will be in the spotlight on Saturday, May 19, with "Les Petits Oiseaux" by Fred Louf (produced by K-Star), one of 12 shorts included in the Official Competition, to be screened at the Théâtre Claude Debussy at 11 a.m. and in the Salle Bunuel at 2.45 p.m.
Saturday, May 19 will also see four French coproductions presented at the festival:
Feature Films in Competition:
"Millenium Mambo" by Hsiao-Hsien Hou
"Akai Hashi Noshitano Nurui Mizu" ("De l’eau tiède sous un pont rouge") by Shohei Imamura
Un Certain Regard:
"Jol" ("La Route") by Darejan Omirbaev
"Le Parole de mi padre" by Francesca Comencini
And finally, on Sunday, May 20, "Les Âmes fortes" by Raoul Ruiz (produced by MDI, Les films du Lendemain in coproduction with Arte France Cinéma, France 2 Cinéma, Rhônes-Alpes Cinéma and Nomad Films) is slated for screening, Out of Competition, at 7.15 p.m. and 11.15 p.m. (Grand Théâtre Lumière), as part of the festival's closing ceremony.
