France in the race for the 2005 Oscars

French films will be well represented at the 77th Academy Awards ceremony, to be held February 27 at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.

"Chorists" (US title: "The Chorus") in the running for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film

In the wake of outstanding national and international success, the film by Christophe Barratier is representing France in the Best Language Film category. With eight Cesar award nominations already to its credit, "Chorists" is competing with "Downfall" (also released as "The Downfall: Hitler and the End of the Third Reich") from Germany and "The Sea Inside" by Alejandro Amenabar, from Spain. "Chorists" is also vying for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, with "Look To Your Path" ("Vois Sur Ton Chemin"), co-written by the director and Bruno Coulais.

French films forever

"A Very Long Engagement" by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, nominated for 12 Cesar awards, is competing in the Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography categories.

Keep your calendars clear for February 27th!
