As part of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival—a must-attend event for the XR industry—Unifrance reveals its annual report analyzing the distribution of French immersive works abroad.
The “young” and dynamic XR sector is characterized by an experimental nature that constantly drives its model forward. Consequently, for the past nine years, the teams at Unifrance have been updating and adapting the tools used to measure the distribution of immersive works outside France’s borders in order to provide a snapshot that most closely reflects market realities.
This year, for the first time, we received data on exports of LBE Free Roaming productions. Including this data in our statistics generated an exponential multiplying effect on revenues, which jumped from €1.1 million in 2024 to €8.2 million in 2025!
Despite an inevitably uneven distribution of revenues, the sample of French works exported confirmed the immersive genre's diversity, as each format (XR Interactive, XR Linear, XR Live Performance, XR Location-Based, and XR FullDome) had at least one strong ambassador to showcase it abroad in 2025.
L'Horizon de Khéops, Life Chronicles, and Tonight with the Impressionists, Paris 1874, topped the list of works with the highest export revenues, while Oto's Planet, Less Than 5gr of Saffron, and Ito Meikyu led the list of those with the highest sales. These rankings reflect both the long distribution cycle characteristic of immersive works across all formats and the importance of festival selections and awards won, which boost the titles’ popularity among foreign distributors.
Access to viewership data is another new feature included in this annual report. We are pleased to announce that nearly 1.7 million international XR enthusiasts experienced a French production in 2025 at LBE theaters and arcades. The aforementioned L'Horizon de Khéops attracted more than 900,000 admissions during the year under review.
