Once again, this year's Franco-German Film Meetings will provide an opportunity for some 200 key players in the film and audiovisual industry to meet and discuss current issues facing the profession, and attend panels, keynotes, and review case studies, on Wednesday November 20 and Thursday November 21 in the heart of Berlin.
The event's main themes:
- AC Coppens (The Catalysts) will explore the future of production.
- Peter Dinges (FFA Filmförderungsanstalt) and Katharina Hiersementzel (Constantin Film AG) will present the reform of film subsidies in Germany, due to come into effect in January 2025.
- Jérémie Kessler(CNC) will give an overview of the current state of Franco-German co-production, backed up by figures.
- Jamila Wenske (Achtung Panda!), Dr. Agnes Schneeberger (European Audiovisual Observatory) and Suzanne Pradel (Buchscout) will address intellectual property issues based on case studies from the European film industry.
- Case study on Claire Burger's film Langue Etrangère: Marie Ange Luciani (Les Films de Pierre) and the producers at Razor Film Produktion will be on hand to offer an exclusive insight into the creative process behind this Franco-German co-production.
- The Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris and OFAJ will be hosting a discussion on the new generation of European cinema.
- A co-production Happy Hour organized by the Forum Alentours and Atelier Network will provide an opportunity for participants to meet and exchange ideas on projects looking for a partner across the Rhine.
- Vova Ovsiienko from Ukrainian company Respeecher, a pioneer in voice cloning, will show how this technology is set to revolutionize cinema.
- Dr. Andreas Bareiss (Gaumont) will present a case study of Eugen Tunik's Ukrainian TV series In her Car (2023).
- Christian Brauer (Yorck-Kino AG Kino) and Alexis Mas (Condor) will discuss new international distribution strategies.
- Jürgen Lütz (Cineville) will discuss the impact of subscriptions on cinema culture and attendance.
- Dr. Agnes Schneeberger (European Audiovisual Observatory) will explore the future of independent series producers in the face of fears of reduced orders from broadcasters.
The event will be punctuated by convivial moments, including a lunch hosted by Cofiloisirs and the opening dinner hosted by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. In addition, this year's Franco-German Film Meetings will introduce the German French Film Week at the Delphi-Filmpalast (Berlin).
