For the latest MyFrenchShorts, and as part of the Year of the Documentary, Unifrance invites you to discover the short film Churchill, Polar Bear Town by Annabelle Amoros, in the company of the polar bears of northern Canada.
Every year, polar bears migrate to Hudson Bay in northern Canada to hunt seals. From October to November, while waiting for the pack ice to form, they take up residence on the outskirts of the town of Churchill, population 800.
Long hunted, now the stars of safaris, the bears have become a tourist attraction and thus a considerable source of income for Churchill. The small town provides a unique illustration of the complex links between our modern world and the wild.
This César award-winning short film tells the story of the disorientation of wildlife in a world that is changing too fast.
