Like every year, seven French feature films will leave for Mexico starting October 6, then for Central America and Argentina and Chile starting November 14 via the very popular Latin American Tour de Cine Francés, which is already in its 26th edition.
Jointly organized by Nueva Era Films, a Mexican distribution company focusing on French films, the Cinépolis exhibition network, the country's Alliances Françaises network, and the Ambassade de France in Mexico, the Tour de Cine Francés, which takes a caravan of films throughout the country and then a good part of Latin America for more than a month, attracts an average of 300,000 spectators each year, with the absolute record remaining the 420,000 admissions recorded in 2018.
After two slightly diminished editions in 2020 and 2021 due to the global health crisis, which were still held physically (garnering 135,000 spectators in 2021), this year, the selection will again visit, in addition to 70 cities in Mexico, Costa Rica, Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, before reaching Argentina, and Chile.
Although no artists will be physically present this year, several have supported the Tour by participating in a virtual press-junket organized at UniFrance.
