The 2022 edition of Cartoon Forum will take place in Toulouse, France, from September 20 through 22. 37 projects for French series will be presented at the event, making France the most highly-represented producer country for projects pitched this year.
Projects aimed at children aged between 6 and 9 dominate the selection (accounting for 16 out of 37 projects), although series for teenagers and young adults are also well-represented, with 7 projects to be pitched. There are very few international coproductions this year, numbering only 4, with production partners from Belgium, Ireland, the USA, and Japan.
We can also note that a number of the projects are the work of directors who have already gained renown with their previous work. For example, Hefang Wei, director of the TV special program that was in competition at Annecy 2022, titled Louise et la légende du serpent à plumes, will present the series Magic Mission in Mexico. The American director Jim Capobianco, who has already worked with the Disney and Pixar studios, will pitch his new project, Leo’s Workshop (a series adapted from his feature film currently in production with Foliascope). Julie Rembauville and Nicolas Bianco-Levrin, directors of numerous acclaimed shorts, will present their TV special Marcel, le père Noël (et le Petit Livreur de Pizzas), as is the case for Wassim Boutaleb Jutai, director of the series Non-Non, who will pitch his latest project, The Tinies.
