Unifrance is joining forces for the first time with the FeatureLab scheme organized by TorinoFilmLab, a transalpine program dedicated to supporting the development of first and second feature films.
For this first collaboration with TorinoFilmLab, Unifrance is thrilled to accompany the feature film project Terra, written by Gabrielle Demeestere and produced by Clémentine Mourão-Ferreira (So-Cle), which has been selected at TorinoFeatureLab 2022.
This Unifrance grant offers the opportunity to participate in residential workshops organized as part of the program, the first of which will be held in Poland in June, and the second in Turin in November during the closing event of the TFL, the "Meeting Event". The two creative team members will be able to present their project in pitch sessions.
The support provided by Unifrance consists of the attribution of a grant to a French project selected at the FeatureLab program. This grant covers 50% of registration fees and travel expenses for the writer and producer of this project (who is a member of Unifrance).
FeatureLab focuses on feature film projects that are already at an advanced stage of development: fiction, creative documentaries, experimental, animation, and any possible kind of cinemas.
Producers participating in the program are given the chance to boost the development of their projects, to prepare for presentations at international markets, and to meet with potential coproducers, distributors, and other professionals in the sector.
For the 2021 edition of the program, the French film project Dayao Swims Against the Flow by Zhang Tao, co-written with Jérémy Dubois and produced by Vincent Wang (House on Fire) in coproduction with Butong Pictures (Hong Kong) and Les Films Fauves (Luxembourg), won the TFL Production Award, which came with a grant valued at €50,000 for the French production.
This new support collaboration is fully in line with Unifrance's strong desire to accompany and assist the transition from short films to features, both for the writers/auteurs of the projects as well as their production structures, via appropriate international programs.
