A review of the latest news on French animations available for viewing online on VOD platforms outside France.
We reported in our previous newsletter on the success of Xilam Animation in India thanks to its dedicated YouTube channel Oggy and the Cockroaches. This success is growing, with the channel receiving a YouTube Diamond Play Button—a prize awarded by YouTube to channels that have amassed over 10 million subscribers. This is the second time that Xilam has won this honor, after its triumph in 2020 with its channel dedicated to Zig & Sharko.
What's more, Xilam's digital strategy is not limited to YouTube, as in January the company launched a channel called Xilam TV Fast on Samsung TV Plus, an AVOD platform in Brazil. This channel broadcasts hit titles from Xilam's slate, including Zig & Sharko, Oggy and the Cockroaches, Magic, and many others.
A string of French animations have benefited from online broadcasts in North America in recent months:
- The feature film by Rémi Chayé, Long Way North is now available in the USA on The Criterion Channel (since December 18, 2021).
- Season 2 of Gigantosaurus has been available since January 5, 2022, on Netflix in the USA.
- Young American viewers can discover Season 4 of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir on Disney+ (available since January 5, 2022).
