Given the recent developments in the health situation in France and worldwide, UniFrance is adapting its organization for the 24th UniFrance Rendez-Vous in Paris, which will open up to the TV sector for the first time in 2022.
"In a context of uncertainty for our sectors, it is of utmost importance to UniFrance to preserve this major event, which in 2022 will be a showcase for the synergies between the French cinema and TV sectors. For this reason, we have made the decision to maintain the markets organized at the Rendez-Vous event, in order to continue to provide a meeting place between exporters and film and TV buyers. Furthermore, we believe it is essential that the works proposed by all of our members can be shown in optimum conditions, that is, in theaters. With regard to the meetings between foreign media representatives and French artists, we have opted for the same organization that proved highly successful in 2021, which will ensure the effective promotion in the media of productions scheduled for release in 2022," announces Daniela Elstner, Executive Director of Unifrance.
In this way, the film and TV markets will be held as planned, from January 11 to 13, and from January 13 to 16, respectively, at the Hôtel Le Collectionneur in Paris. These events will welcome 150 TV buyers and 250 film distributors from across Europe, who will meet with around 100 French production companies.
90 films, including 54 new titles, will be presented to European distributors in four movie theaters on the Champs-Élysées over four days. As regards TV productions, a host of pitches and screenings of new programs will be proposed to buyers at the Club de l’Étoile.
Following announcements by the French government made on December 6, the cocktail receptions and evening events hosted by UniFrance for the Rendez-Vous have been cancelled once again this year.
On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the second edition of our Export Day will be held at the Théâtre Marigny. With the spotlight focused on Europe this year—the leading export market and primary coproduction partner for French films and TV productions—the event will welcome producers, sales agents, actors, directors, festival directors, foreign distributors, broadcasters, and representatives from institutional bodies, among others. Over 30 French and international industry figures will come together on this occasion to reappraise and champion soft power and the sovereignty of French cinema and TV productions.
Finally, the meetings between foreign media representatives and French artists organized for the UniFrance Rendez-Vous will now be held online from January 14 through 17, 2022. UniFrance will thus bring together in Paris around 100 French artists (directors and actors) from as many French productions slated for release around the world in 2022, who will be present remotely to meet with over 120 accredited international journalists over four days of interviews held via videoconference. For the first time, TV programs will also be included in this operation.
In 2021, around 900 interviews were held during this press junket.
As was the case in 2021, the Rendez-Vous event's official photo studio will be entrusted to the photographer Philippe Quaisse.
