This year's 10th edition of the Rendez-Vous with New French Cinema in Rome, organized by the Institut Français in collaboration with UniFrance, will be the world's first festival since the Covid-19 outbreak to be held in public, in the presence of special guests. It will take place from July 1 through 6, 2020, in a magical location: the Nuovo Sacher Arena, the outdoor cinema owned by Nanni Moretti.
A screening of Oh Mercy! will open the festival, held in the presence of the film's director Arnaud Desplechin, who was the subject of a special focus at the event two years ago.
To showcase French cinema in the "feminine plural," this year's special edition of the Rendez-Vous event will present a selection of five films directed by women which have won awards at film festivals around the world.
The majority of these films were submitted by their Italian distributors, for whom this event serves as a launching pad for the films' commercial release in Italy.
All screenings will be held at the Arena Nuovo Sacher outdoor cinema, managed by Nanni Moretti.
