French productions account for nearly one third of all works programmed at the 6th edition of the FilmGate Interactive Festival, an event organized by FilmGate Miami. With works ranging from VR productions to video games and interactive series, this festival offers North American audiences the opportunity discover the great diversity of this new wave of creation.
The FilmGate Interactive Festival, an event dedicated to interactive media organized by FilmGate Miami, will take place from November 30 to December 6, 2018, in the Miami metropolitan area. French creations will have a strong presence at this 6th edition of the festival, with twelve immersive works selected.
In addition to the VR films that have recently won awards, such as Isle of the Dead VR (Best Story at Venice) and BattleScar (Grand Prize for Innovation at the FNC Montréal), FilmGate will also present a number of works in world premieres, including A Fisherman's Tale.
While the production companies Les Produits Frais and Atlas V will each present two works, the biggest presence will be held by Innerspace VR, which is currently making a dynamic comeback, with three creations selected this year.
We can also note the strong position played by Arte productions in this year's lineup, with the European TV network credited in more than one half of the French productions (such as Vandals, Burry me, my love, Homo Machina, and Summer), thus confirming Arte's role as the leader of the sector in France.
France's presence at the festival also extends to the jury, with Michael Swierczynski (NewImages), director of digital development at the Forum des images and the producer Voyelle Acker (On Animation Studios) standing as jury members.
With support from the French Immersion program, the producer Julien Aubert (Bigger Than Fiction) and the creators Balthazar Auxietre (Firebird - The Unfinished), Hayoun Kwon (Gauguin's inner journey), and Benjamin Nuel ( Legacy) will be in Florida to present their works and to take part in panel discussions on digital creative works. An initiative created this year by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the USA, and a result of collaboration with Unifrance, the CNC and the Institut Français, French Immersion contributes to the promotion of French immersive works in the United States.
