On the first 5 weeks of 2001, French films reach domestically a 34% market share, against a 48% for US films and 18% for others. And yet, the very expected sequel "La vérité si je mens ! 2" is not included in those figures.
This brillant start comes from a general good shape of French films ; either trhe blockbusters like "The Closet" by Francis Veber and "Brotherhood of the Wolves" by Christophe Gans or smaller films like "Selon Matthieur" by Xavier Beauvois and "Mortal Transfert" by Jean-Jacques Beineix.
The recent skyrocketting start of "La vérité si je mens ! 2" by Thomas Gilou or even "Under the sand" by François Ozon give a strong expectation for February results : indeed, during week n°5 (01/31 till 02/06), French films held a 66% market share.
