The international writing residency program for animated films held at the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. An occasion to rediscover some of the gems that were developed in this program.
Michel Ocelot, Sébastien Laudenbach, Céline Devaux, and Bastien Dubois… the list is long of talented filmmakers who have taken part in the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud's writing program!
Founded in 2006, this animated film writing residency, which is the only one of its kind in Europe, has so far welcomed over 150 writers/directors of animated films from thirty countries and has fostered the creation of around forty animated films (short films and features), many of which have won prestigious international awards (at film festivals including Annecy, Ottawa, Locarno, Hiroshima, and Cannes, and awards ceremonies including the Academy Awards). This pioneering program has established Fontevraud as an international reference point for the creation of animated film projects.
In October this year, the program is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and UniFrance has joined forces with the event to offer viewers the chance to (re)discover six films that benefited from this writing residency at the Abbey. Viewers will be able to watch the following films free of charge for the period of one month:
- Bang Bang ! by Julien Bisaro
- Chulyen, histoire de corbeau by Cerise Lopez and Agnès Patron
- Haircut by Virginia Mori
- Hollow Land by Michelle Kranot and Uri Kranot
- Man on the Chair by Dahee Jeong
- Beach Flags by Sarah Saidan
These films will be available for viewing free of charge until October 28, 2017, by clicking on this link.
