The 24th French Film Festival in Yokohama came to an end on June 27 with the announcement of the winner of the Air France Audience Prize, which was presented to The Final Lesson by Pascale Pouzadoux.
This is the first year of this partnership between Unifrance and Air France, who have joined forces to create a new award to be presented at the French Film Festival in Japan. The award honors a French film selected by Japanese spectators from among the films showcased at the festival. After each film screening, audiences are invited to vote for their favorite film using a ballot system. Voters are automatically entered into a prize draw to win a return trip from Tokyo to Paris for two people.
Pascale Pouzadoux's film The Final Lesson, which tells the story of an elderly woman who undertakes to make all the arrangements for her own death, was very well received by Japanese audiences, who were deeply touched by the film. Spectators had the chance to meet with Pascale Pouzadoux and her lead actress Marthe Villalonga, who were in attendance to present their film to a packed theater, making it a very enjoyable experience for both the French artists and Japanese audiences.
