The nominations for the 72nd Golden Globe Awards have just been announced at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which presents the annual Golden Globe Awards, has unveiled its list of films and personalities nominated for awards at its upcoming 72nd edition.
French cinema is represented in the nominees list by the Franco-Israeli co-production Gett, The Trial of Viviane Amsalem by Shlomi and Ronit Elkabetz (Elzévir et Cie), which, incidentally, also features among the Oscars shortlist for nominees in the Best Foreign-Language Film category. This film is nominated in the Best Foreign-Language Film category alongside Turist (a minority French co-production produced by the Société Parisienne de Production - Co-production Office).
The French composer Alexandre Desplat is also nominated for his music for The Imitation Game. A veteran of awards ceremonies in the United States, Desplat has 6 Oscar nominations and 7 Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Music to his credit, and in 2007 picked up the Golden Globe award for The Painted Veil.

The Golden Globe Awards ceremony, which is widely viewed as a bellwether for the Oscars, will be held January 11, 2015, several weeks prior to the Academy Awards ceremony.
