A producer-director appointed as Algerian Culture Minister

The producer and director Nadia Cherabi will take the helm at the Algerian Ministry of Culture.

The Algerian producer-director Nadia Cherabi was appointed Monday, May 4, as the country's Culture Minister, replacing Khalida Toumi, who is tipped to head the Algerian Cultural Center in Paris.

After founding the film and television production company Procom International in 1994, Nadia Cherabi was a member of the Algerian delegation at the Franco-Algerian Film Meetings in December 2008, which were co-organized by UniFrance Films and the CNC. Ms. Cherabi recently produced two feature films, L’envers du miroir, which she also directed, and Vivantes!, directed by Saïd Ould-Khelifa.
