Synopsis

Louise Seylan, a Parisian neurosurgeon as prickly as she is brilliant, learns of the death of her father, a general practitioner in Saint-Gouzin, a small village in the Drôme region. Devastated, she makes—for the first time in her life—a medical error that leads to her suspension.

Back in the village for her father’s funeral, Louise meets Cindy Bourdeau, an eccentric nurse who is wholly dedicated to caring for the villagers. Cindy then proposes a daring but completely illegal scheme: to take her father’s place in the heart of this medical desert. Though she detests the countryside but is addicted to her profession, Louise eventually agrees, even though she risks being permanently struck off the medical roll.

Once there, amid a lack of resources, residents struggling with undiagnosed conditions, and goats barging into consultations, the unlikely duo of healthcare providers will have to learn to work together to solve medical mysteries whose intensity Louise could never have imagined. For in this rural world, every consultation is an emergency, every patient a challenge, and every day a lesson in humility.

Amid clashes, improvisation, and unexpected moments of connection, Louise and Cindy will discover that, despite everything that sets them apart, it is their bond and friendship that will be their strength.
