Synopsis
On April 2, 2005, John Paul II, the third-longest-serving pope in history, passes away. The devastated faithful gather by thousands on St. Peter’s Square, clamoring for his immediate sanctification: SANTO SUBITO! The American-born Father Murolo is summoned to the Vatican and appointed to investigate the trial for the sanctification of the Pope: he is “the devil’s advocate”. The investigation leads him to meet a range of witnesses. Confronted with anonymous revelations and unexpected testimonies, Father Murolo will uncover both the achievements and shadowy facets of Karol Wojtyla’s pontificate. This journey of truth will ultimately put his own faith to the test.
