Synopsis
In Burn From Absence, Emeline utilizes artificial intelligence to materialize the memory space of her Vietnamese family, which has a philosophy of wiping the slate clean of the past. Like a journey up a river, she seeks to trace how her family came to want to ‘forget’ (or nearly forget) everything to achieve resilience. Engaged in a reflection on the erosion of memory, she seeks to remedy this crumbling linked to the transmission of memories from one generation to another, from one territory to another.
