Miguel is a 14-year-old boy who is about to return to a juvenile centre. His mother, unemployed and leading an unstable personal life, is simply unable to look after him. This is why Miguel lives with a permanent sense of urgency: doing the household chores, selling tissues on the street or stealing from supermarkets. It all ends when the social services start looking for him and his mother forces him to seek refuge in the house of her Romanian former lover Bogdan, who lives in a nearby town. Despite protests by Bogdan’s son Andrei, Miguel manages to stay with them on condition that he should work illegally at the factory where both are employed. Miguel’s only obsession is to return to his mother, and everything he does serves that purpose.
