Ten-year-old Thiago and his family live in Mutum (mute), a remote corner of the region of Sertao, a rugged, isolated, and staggeringly beautiful area in the Brazilian mountains.
Mutum is also the name of black bird that sings at night.
Thiago, like the landscape and the bird, is not exactly like everyone else. Quiet, he observes adults and their world full of betrayal, violence and silence.
Alongside Felipe, his brother and only friend, Thiago experiences this world that he must learn to leave behind.
