Georges Nail lives in one of the new, faceless residential suburbs that spring up on the outskirts of large cities. He’s married, leaves for the office each morning, goes to Mass each Sunday, loves his wife, his son, his dog. Paul Hammer is young, handsome, rich, intelligent. He’s torn between the severe judgment he casts upon the world and his desire, despite everything, to belong to it. One day, the paths of the two men cross purely by chance. Nail sees it as an opportunity for a new and sincere friendship. Whereas it gives Hammer a new reason for living: to crucify the ideal of Western man’s happiness, and its manifestation in the form of Georges Nail. After all, a nail is a perfect victim for a hammer.
