The Gleaners and I: Two Years Later
Synopsis
Many documentaries about a film production – commonly known as “making of” – offer behind-the-scene glimpses of actors’ screen tests, location scouting and the many facets of preparation required to get a film underway. Instead of a “making of”, we decided to do a “post-making of”. “Deux ans après” recounts what happened after the release of “The Gleaners and I” in 2000. It tells of what has become of the participants in the film. It speaks about the many letters Agnès Varda received and her reaction to them, and the way the film affected the thousands of people who flocked to see it. “Deux ans après” also introduces us to more gleaners and more heart-shaped potatoes encountered along the way.
