Synopsis
Malraux: a working class Parisian kid, gung-ho adventurer in tiger-infested jungles, pirate smuggling statues out of temples, hostage to memories of Asia, firebrand touting revolutionary slogans, untrained fighter pilot against Franco, soldier on the front lines resisting Hitler’s tanks, escaped prisoner, Resistance fighter, De Gaulle’s favorite and Minister of the Republic sluicing Paris’ streets clean, critic confounding theories about art and culture, novelist in his spare time, his masterpieces translated into every language… Malraux: a fistful of ashes contained within the Pantheon, that site where France honors great men. Malraux who lived a life of extraordinary adventure befitting an extraordinary man who, every day, staked his all against death.
