Synopsis
Paris, 1999. Yasmine, of Algerian descent, hasn’t heard from her fiancé Rachid who had a sudden impulse to join the Algerian army some time ago. Worried by his silence, she goes looking for him. Alone in a country whose language she doesn’t speak, Yasmine learns that Rachid got caught in a bloody ambush set up by Islamist fanatics. Convinced that he’s alive, she continues her search into deepest Algeria, braving violence and terrorism. Spied on, taken hostage, hunted but also helped sometimes, her quest leads her to confront the profound contradictions of a country torn apart.
