Synopsis
François is released after several years in prison. This is the story of a rebel who, because he is a rebel, has no right to happiness. The day he meets the ideal woman, his fate is sealed : their union will be a bloody one. "To the End of the Night" isn't a "ganster movie" but a love story and an implacable tragedy.

About
"(...) Gérard Blain's film has the purity of a Greek tragedy. This stark work, with its intense frankness, has a veracity that disturbs audiences whose tastes have been perverted by a profusion of sugar and spice from the other side of the Atlantic."
(Les Cahiers du Cinéma, reader's letters)
