Moctar lives in Africa with his mother. One day, she receives a letter from France which fills her with joy : Ibrahim Sow, her husband, an immigrant worker, can at last bring them to France. The news causes upheaval in Moctar's life. He will have to leave his village, his friends and above all his ailing grand-father. After arriving in France, Moctar begins to be haunted by visions of a hyena. Given the irrationnal nature of this experience, nobody will believe him. He is made fun of. Even worse, there are concerns for his mental health. Only Paulo, a fifty-year old man he meets while wandering in the city, will help him to control his fears and to confront the hyena.

About
"We're on a square in the middle of Lyons to shoot a scene between Richard Bohringer and Saïd Diarra. The actors, wired for sound, take up their positions. Idrissa shouts, "Right, let's do the first take... Saïd, what did I tell you ?... Do it again... get back to your positions." Richard and Saïd turn round... They're now more than twenty yards from the crew. They're talking but we can't hear what they're saying... except for Idrissa who shouts across the square, "No, Saïd, you didn't do it the way I told you to..."Saïd turns round in surprise. Idrissa continues, pointing to the headphones that he is wearing, "Remember, I can hear everything you say... Don't go complaining to Richard..." Saïd looks at him sheepishly. Idrissa then bursts out laughing and points to his forehead to show little Saïd that instead of talking, he should start thinking..."
