Marcel was born in Aubagne at the end of the nineteenth century. His mother, Augustine was a dressmaker, his father a teacher. The family, which had grown to include a brother and a sister, went to the hills for holidays which they spent whith Rose, Augustine's sister and her husband, Jules. Marcel found a friend, Lili.
