Since January 2002, the Paris City Hall's "Mission Cinéma" has, as well as highlighting the unique character of Paris and its rich and diverse cinematic culture, focused on adding impetus to a coherent policy to support cinematic arts, based on five key support areas:
• Independent theaters in Paris
• Film education
• Events promoting cinema
• The Forum des Images
• Film shoots in Paris
These areas of support were jointly defined by the Paris City Hall and the Federal government (the Île-de-France Regional Cultural Affairs Department and the Centre National de la Cinématographie), who recently signed their first cinematic development agreement.
