For the tenth consecutive year, Unifrance will welcome, from January 10 through to January 14, 350 distributors and 140 international journalists.
These are invited from over 29 countries. For the first time, Algeria, Brazil, Croatia, Rumania, and Taiwan have been invited to participate
Over the past ten years, the Rendezvous with French Cinema meetings in Paris have become one of the major, unmissable events on film industry professionals' already busy schedules. During four days, from January 11 through January 14, the Grand Hôtel becomes a prime arena for discoveries, interchange and negotiations to do with cinema.
On the one hand, this "press junket" allows French directors and actors to meet journalists and promote films that will be released during the first few months following the Rendezvous in the journalists' respective countries. On the other hand, the event enables distributors to meet with French sales agents and to view feature and, this year for the first time, short films within the framework of a market set up at the Grand Hôtel. More than 80 projectors have hence been installed for this year's event: a record that reflects the great variety of French productions.
In addition, two films will be screened during Gala Nights taking place January 11 and 12: La jeune fille et les loups by Gilles Legrand and Dragon Hunters by Guillaume Ivernel & Arthur Qwak.
January 13, Unifrance will celebrate the 10th Rendezvous with a cruise along the Seine after the Lumières Awards ceremony, at which foreign correspondents based in Paris vote on the honors to be granted to French cinema, and a dinner with French film directors and actors hosted by the City Hall of Paris.
A press conference will be held at the Grand Hôtel Thursday January 10 at 6.30pm for the French press, and Saturday January 12 at 12.00pm for foreign correspondents.
