The 48th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will take place from June 28 through July 6, 2013 in the Czech Republic.
Michel Gondry's adaptation of Boris Vian's novel L'écume des jours, translated variously as Froth on a Daydream, Mood Indigo, and Foam of the Daze, will open the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
Mood Indigo will not be the only French film making an appearance on the the program. 11.6 by Philippe Godeau has been seclected for Official Competition, as has The Day Has Conquered the Night by Jean-Gabriel Périot, selected for the Documentary Films in Competition section. In the Forum of Independents, we note the presence of Hungry Man by Philip Martin. French coproductions are also on the lineup, such as Lalkarz, a documentary by Wiktoria Szymanska (in competition), Paradjanov by Olena Fetisova and Serge Avedikian (in the East of the West section), and the French/Belgian drama In the Name of the Son by Vincent Lannoo (Forum of Independents).
In all, the festival includes 28 French films and coproductions in its program.
