After attracting over 8 million spectators in France since March this year, “Chorists” sets off to conquer international markets.
After its presentation at the Athens French Film Festival in April and the 39th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic (July 2-10), where the film was selected in the Official Competition, “Chorists” was offered a preview screening on the closing night of the recent Montreal World Film Festival (August 26 – September 6), in the presence of its director, Christophe Barratier and lead actor, Gérard Jugnot (distributor: Alliance).
This week, Christophe Barratier and Jacques Perrin are also presenting the film in a preview screening at the Toronto International Film Festival (distributed by Miramax), in the Special Presentations Section, and are meeting with the media representatives at the event in preparation for its upcoming release in America and Canada.
Also on the international circuit, the film has just kicked off a promising run in Germany (distributed by Constantin), and will be released in around 30 other countries before the year is out: Hong Kong, Finland, Taiwan, Lebanon, Israel, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Quebec, Sweden, Italy, China, Portugal, Croatia, Slovenia, Norway, Poland, Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Yugoslavia, Spain, Hungary, the United States, Greece and Iceland.
In October, the film will be presented in Shanghai as opening film for the Year of France in China, in the presence of the French Culture Minister, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, Christophe Barratier and Gerard Jugnot. It will be distributed in China by Champ Lis.
