François Favrat, in Montreal to present “Le Rôle de sa vie” (“The Role of Her Life,” selected in the Official Competition), received two awards for his film on Monday September 6: Best Actress for Karin Viard and Best Screenplay for Julie Lopes-Curval, Jérôme Beauséjour, Roger Bohbot and Favrat himself.
Moreover, the big winner at the festival was a French co-production, “The Syrian Bride” (“Hacala Hasurit”) by Eran Riklis, which picked up not only the top award, the Grand Prix of the Americas, but also the Air Canada People’s Choice Award, the FIPRESCI Prize and the Ecumenical Jury Prize.
