The Intouchables and Amour are among the five contestants for the Best European Film, which will be announced during the 25th European Film Awards, which will take place in Malta on December 1, 2012.
Amour by Michael Haneke has been nominated in six categories: best film, best director, best screenplay, best cinematography and its two leads, Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva, have been nominated for best actor and best actress.
The Intouchables by Elric Toleadano and Olivier Nakache has been nominated in three categories: best film, best screenplay, and Omar Sy and Francois Cluzet have been nominated together in the best actor category.
Among the other French co-productions, we note the presence of Kate Winslet for Carnage by Roman Polanski and Emilie Dequenne for Our Children by Joachim Lafosse in the best actress category, and four nominations for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy co-produced by StudioCanal.
