The films The Artist, Le Havre, Melancholia, and The Turin Horse, along with artists Jean Dujardin, Michel Piccoli, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and the Dardenne brothers, are among nominees at the upcoming 24th European Film Awards, to be held December 3 in Berlin.
The Artist by Michel Hazanavicius is among the most-nominated titles in this year's awards lineup, with nominations in the categories of Best Film, Best Actor (for Jean Dujardin), Best Cinematography (for Guillaume Schiffman), and Best Original Music (for Ludovic Bourse).
Nominees for Best Film also include the French co-productions The Kid With a Bike by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Le Havre by Aki Kaurismaki, and Melancholia by Lars Von Trier.
Michel Piccoli represents the film Habemus Papam by Nanni Moretti in the Best Actor category.
Charlotte Gainsbourg is nominated in the Best Actress category for her performance in Melancholia.
Overall, 25 of the 39 nominations represent a film produced by France.
