Three French productions will compete for the Venice International Film Festival - 2011, along with four films selected in the Orrizonti section and three films at Critics’ Week.
Marco Müller yesterday unveiled the list of films selected in competition and out-of-competition for the 68th Venice International Film Festival, which will be held August 31 through 10 September, 2011.
France will be represented on the Lido by Carnage by Roman Polanski, which features a high profile Hollywood cast including Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, and John C. Reilly; Chicken With Plums by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, starring Mathieu Amalric, Maria de Medeiros, Golshiteh Farahani, and Isabella Rosselini; and A Burning Hot Summer by Philippe Garrel, starring Monica Bellucci, Louis Garrel, and Céline Salette.
These films will be presented alongside the latest offering from the Canadian director David Cronenberg, A Dangerous Method starring Vincent Cassel, and Terraferma by the Italian director Emmanuelle Crialese, both of which were co-produced by France.
The Disintegration by Philippe Faucon starring Rachid Debbouzze, La Clé des champs by Claude Nuridsany and Marie Perennou, Eva by Kike Maillo, and Almayer's Folly by Chantal Akerman will be presented out-of-competition.
The Orrizonti section features L’Oiseau by Yves Caumon starring Sandrine Kiberlain, Little Tom Thumb by Marina de Van, and Would You Have Sex With an Arab? by Yolande Zauberman, as well as the short film by Mati Diop, Snow Canon.
The Critics’ Week sidebar event will showcase two French majority productions: Louise Wimmer by Cyril Mennegun and The Land of Oblivion by Michale Boganim.
